As we begin 2017 I am reflecting on how blessed I am to be where I am today. I have been through so much in the last twenty years but I am thankful for each experience because it has helped to shape me into the person that I am today. There were many times where I felt alone, embarrassed and hopeless. Once I started to heal and I realized how much potential I had, I vowed that I would support others in their struggles to overcome obstacles. Right now my main focus is to support women and children who are victims or domestic violence. If you have ideas on how we can help people in our community, especially through artistic experiences...please contact me so that we can collaborate. LET'S MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!
There is something rejuvenating about becoming in tune with your creative side. Each time I host a painting party, it brings me joy to watch each canvas come to life. Everyone starts with the same pre-drawn canvas, the same colors of paint and the exact same supplies. As each person begins and makes decisions, the canvas slowly starts to represent their individuality. Each painting tells a story of where the creator has been in life and where they are on that particular day. As the painters walk around admiring one another's work it is just another way to communicate. Their art makes them transparent...inhibitions are not present...conversations begin...revelations are made...confidence is built..new found respect is gained...people come together!!!! Creating art is great for the soul!
